First of all, water fountains that are meant to be enjoyed indoors are obviously designed smaller than their outdoor cousins. I could not believe how much I enjoyed listening to the sound of the water flowing down the fountain I built in my yard years ago. Other water fountains that many people like are small bubblers, or larger pondless waterfall type fountains. These are basically the same, just different sizes. I have seen these in offices and other commercial settings. They make a stunning feature in any waiting area or lobby. They use the same principles of other fountains, but are made dramatic in appearance by running the water down copper, or over rocks. The fun comes from the illusion that water is pouring right out of a wall.

Water fountains of all sorts have a place in our lives. Whether large or small, indoors or out, fancy or simple, they add pleasure and whimsy to our daily routines. Something we can all use more of.
